The deeds office process when transferring your property

1. Parties to provide their FICA documents
2. Conveyancer must obtain a Transfer Duty Receipt from SARS as well as a Rates Clearance
Certificate from the Municipality
3. Drafting all the transfer documents for signatures
4. Lodgement of all necessary documents at the Deeds Office
5. Examiners will examine the documents and approve them for registration
6. After all questions have been answered above, the process is “on PREP” which means the deeds
office are satisfied with the documents
7. Registration will now be put forward or handed in and the attorney will attend the Execution
Room of the Deeds Office where it is signed that the transfer or bond documents are in order to
be registered
